Integrated System of Medicine, Future of Medicine. H uman body unexplored, is like the most complex machine's user manual unused. Sleeping intelligence is as good as being non-existent. A computer which cannot be turned on is as good as a slab of stone. It is the same with the human system too. This is a super computer, but most people are keeping it functioning only on the level of survival.  Unveiling this needs beyond treating physical body...at the level of imbalances ( Doshas ) energies and mind. Our ancient systems of medicine emphasised on these a lot. Ayurveda and Yoga always emphasized on treating beyond physical.... Annamaya , Pranamaya and Manomaya khoshas .  While Integrating various systems could redefine the way medicine could be practised, Energy medicine is the future approach to treat various disease. Is health care becoming a commodity?

In our country, health was always a way of life that was inculcated in our culture. Whether we belong to north, east, west or south, we all have some common traditional threads. People were self-reliant. Staying healthy was in the basic essence of cooking, the way food was eaten, the recipes, food based on the seasons, practices like oiling the hair, a head massage, sleeping discipline, etc. these were all healthy habits. Now, for everything we want to consult a doctor. From headache, pimple, stomach upset, constipation, indigestion, for every little thing we depend on doctors. Often we want specialists only, not physician. Did we see this panic among our grandparents? There was a way to live a healthy life. Every member in the family had some knowledge on the basics of our body-mind. This was keeping the primary healthcare needs within the house. This was a culture. If a youngster complained, the mother would give a quick remedy. If the mother had a concern, the elders would solace....

Today’s health issues have less to do with the medical care, more to do with our self and environment!

A published data said "60% of our today’s health and well-being has nothing to do with the medical care we receive". We all agreed! It’s directly connected to behavioral, environmental and social factors – everything from access to information, media, public transportation to the availability of health food in your neighborhood, association influence, work-life balance, etc. among many other factors. "Only about 20% of our health status is attributable to health access to medical care, while another 20% is tied to genetics or behavioral patterns" is what the doctors who practice functional medicine here say. This means that lifestyle factors and the so-called social determinants have an incredibly important impact on a healthy lifestyle.  At WELLBEEING Integrated Lifestyle Health Centre, we are already seeing some extremely positive results from our focus on people’s health and social/family determinants. It represents the most recent tangible expression of our ...
