Illness to Wellness: count on quality of life, not longevity!

Human Safety Is National Safety!

Is healthcare costs increasing and our nation is getting sicker by the day?

This problem could be solved by creating healthier lives. No one has to die from heart problem unless they have a significant genetic threshold. Let's take diabetes for instance...type 2 diabetes has a root cause in modifiable lifestyle factors. Nutrition, exercise or movement, environmental factors, stress, sleep issues. These factors are extremely controllable, but under guidance of doctors if you realize they are part of the root cause and choose to do something about them. If you are not sure how you came to be where you are, medical systems and experts can always dig in and figure it out for you. Research shows that there is a possibility of increasing the overall health by working with a health coach. Illness does not have to be one's future if wellness track is taken much ahead of time for creating the best of one’s life. A life full of energy, free from pains and aches, a good sleep, out of depression, avoiding weight gain or any other issues one might be experiencing could be avoided by getting proper guidance and expert’s opinion.

This is what we have been achieving by integrating various systems of medicine at WELLBEEING, an integrated health services, Bangalore. Here experts from various field of medicine work cohesively. While modern system or conventional system of doctors focus on diagnose and risk analysis and provide symptomatic relief, our eastern system of doctors (traditional systems like Ayurveda and Naturopathy), focuses with their intervention on addressing the root cause, with a very personalized approach. Functionally working together helps in evaluating their bio parameters, reducing their progression of the disease, gradually bring them to normalcy, while tapering down their dependency on medicine. Integrative medicine approach should help many lifestyle diseases to be handled better both in terms of reducing its symptoms and also addressing the root cause.

While many medical and health technology development could increase the longevity of living, Integrative medicine can add quality of living. One can age gracefully! This approach is the future of medicine, which would influence every doctor to practice his medicine better.

Integrative Medicine  is a transformation in healthcare with evidence based practices to achieve sustainable health. Our tradition & culture is to respect all. Under such circumstances, the only alternative is to take the best of both worlds (modern and traditional) together and develop effective management of disorder, which is more safer, reduces risks and dependency on long-term medication. A CASUAL WRITE ON A SERIOUS NOTE: EATING WHOLE - ALL FRUITS & NUTS

On my routine consultation, people always argue and say "I want to control my diabetes and the doctor asked me to stop excess fruits instead, have digestive biscuits" . Some wise people even say "as a doctor you don't know that nuts increase cholesterol levels and dangerous to the heart?" My own cousin started arguing on this and said " you are wrong. Go read properly ". Well, the pharma industry perhaps is getting paid off for that today in abundance. These were easily acceptable few years ago, as none of us had time to verify these facts on whether fruits and nuts are helpful or harmful. Today, thanks to online encyclopedia. Let me know answers to these 2 questions: Have you ever googled  cholesterol content in cashew nuts /peanuts (or any nut you could name)?  Now many of your say Banana has a high glycemic index? or how can a diabetic or Obese eat fruits like Banana, Watermelon, Mango, Chikku, Pineapple, Jackfruit? My question is speaking about the...

An Integrated approach for hypothyroidism: Is this approach a solution to avoid long-term medication?

A case at WELLBEEING© Integrated Health Centre was promising to study further the synergistic effect of working together at the body-mind levels of an individual, rather than depending only on long-term thyroxine drug. This person had been diagnosed with primary hypothyroidism by independent medical and lab assessment, of which conservative management had failed to normalize the TSH, which showed a continued upward trend; this individual could not lose weight by conventional methods. The patient underwent the lifestyle modification with hypothyroid management program  at WELLBEEING. His weight was regularly checked, stress was relieved, and the TSH was done at the end of 6 weeks, both of which showed significant improvement. This report demonstrates that integrated management as an approach has shown to be effective in a case of autoimmune thyroiditis, and hopefully will reduce the dependency on the medications as well. However, this has encouraged the team to research fur...
