An Integrated approach for hypothyroidism: Is this approach a solution to avoid long-term medication?

A case at WELLBEEING© Integrated Health Centre was promising to study further the synergistic effect of working together at the body-mind levels of an individual, rather than depending only on long-term thyroxine drug.

This person had been diagnosed with primary hypothyroidism by independent medical and lab assessment, of which conservative management had failed to normalize the TSH, which showed a continued upward trend; this individual could not lose weight by conventional methods. The patient underwent the lifestyle modification with hypothyroid management program at WELLBEEING. His weight was regularly checked, stress was relieved, and the TSH was done at the end of 6 weeks, both of which showed significant improvement. This report demonstrates that integrated management as an approach has shown to be effective in a case of autoimmune thyroiditis, and hopefully will reduce the dependency on the medications as well. However, this has encouraged the team to research further to develop treatment protocols for more such cases, so as to reduce the dependency on long-term use of drugs. This only increased the conviction of treating such patients more by this team of doctors.

The case was treated by a team of doctors from different systems of medicine functionally working together at WELLBEEING. More number of such cases can create strong evidence to medical fraternity on reversal of Thyroid, perhaps both hyper and hypo thyroids.

The team-Integrative Medicine at WELLBEEING is currently working towards evidence based programs for various lifestyle disorders.

Do we need to go back to getting dirty and having fun for better Immunity?

International Overdoes Awareness.  Is over caring taking us away from our body's own immunity power?   The concept of immunity in traditional medicine came from the fact that human beings are born with a basic immune system which may be weak or strong. Through constant interaction with the microbes in our environment, and within our gut, we learn to fight against new microbes. This helps to strengthen the immune system. Over time, in the name of hygiene the excessive usage of insecticide, microbicidal agents, and lack of interaction with nature (plants, soil and external organisms) has gradually made our immune system weaker. Immunity, as we understand through modern medicine is the function of certain cells, enzymes and immunomodulatory chemicals that attack pathogens preventing them from disease creation. This concept of invasion from microorganisms on the biological defense system led to the development of antibiotics and vaccines. However, with the developments of auto-i...

Lifestyle, Body type and Seasons, What are their connection?

The Science of Imbalances!   ‘Science of life’ is explained very well in Ayurveda. It’s very fascinating to know about this science, which deals with the way of life and life style. It’s main aim is to lead a healthy and happy life. It believes in maintenance of health and prevention of diseases. Thus maintaining harmony in the health and environment, and achieving overall well-being of an individual is the overall objective of this ancient science. All of us know that any variation in the food or place or life style from our routine, we often feel a difference in our health like say, a mild stomach discomfort or change in bowel movement or sore throat etc. We have also observed that we come over the disturbances that tend to happen by simple life style changes or adoption of specific food and regimens. The remedy is often within nature that can influence the body composition a bit for chemical changes within. We just need to be present to these or be aware of basics of our body....

Old Ancient Scientists, who didn’t get the Nobel Prize!

Our Sanskrit Day! We hardly celebrate the glory of our past... We all rave about the noble prize winners and scientists' achievements, whose names continue to resonate. Most of their names become a part of our text books as titles of many theories, hypothesis or formula. Least we know is about the 7 scientists whose origin was in this country who were the cause in the matter. However, in the making of our history, they became less known, neither for their achievements nor as a part of our history.  One of them is Agastya , who lived for centuries, and the reasons for lot of scientific practices (we called them rituals) followed even today. Agasthya muni was one of the 7 renowned Vedic sages (scientist in today's context), and an influential scholar of the Indian subcontinent. He is more popular with his works 'A gastya Samhita ' and ' Naadi Shastra ', both the works respectively based on medicines and astronomy as he was very strong in them. He is often known...
